Mike Heffernan
Chief Technology Officer

Mike has over twenty years of experience in the software industry. His early career was distinguished by the strength of his programming, software architecture and product conception skills. While retaining his technical foundation, he then developed as an entrepreneur and development manager. For the later part of his career, he has fused his technology side with his natural instinct for business and marketing. The result is a jack-of-all-trades and master of a few that can provide a unique insight into problems - and devise an approach that optimizes results across organizational boundaries.

He has also worked in a number of problem spaces, including Internet and browser based applications, customer relationship management, supply chain management, network management and telecommunications, retail point of sale, full text search technologies, development tools and code generation.

Formerly Director of Applied Technology Leadership at Nortel, he has twenty years of experience in management, product management, software architecture and development. He’s worked for small, medium and large high tech companies: Nortel, Trifortics, Fulcrum, ZIM Technologies, Choreo Systems, ORCAtech and Webplan.

He has spoken at a number of local venues, including DPI, OCRI, the Ottawa High Technology Show, IEEE, University of Ottawa, Carleton University, Algonquin College. He has spoken at conferences throughout the U.S. and in Sao Paulo and Amsterdam.
